Muay Thai is a martial art that is the national sport in Thailand, but is very popular in the United States, especially in Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC. This sports competition held in a ring similar to using a boxing ring and throwing punches and kicks its competitors. MTB is the "art of eight limbs" because it uses, elbows, knees, hands, shins in addition to the traditional four limbs (arms and legs).
The origins of Muay Thai is not clear. MuayThai evolved from Muay Boran, an ancient form of boxing used by soldiers in conjunction with the use of weapons. Muay Thai continued to be a form of combat used in warfare, but developed in to a form of competition used for entertainment for celebrations for kings and religious events. Muay became a means of social advancement, where the nobility would take in skilled Muay fighters as teachers for members of their palaces.
Muay has continued to develop through present day. In the mid Renamed in 1990 Thailand Southeast Asian kickboxing Muay Thai. Other Southeast Asian countries did not want to follow their example and their forms of boxing are often boxes to SEA. Muay Thai is to stand against the form of choice for competitors in mixed martial arts. For this reason, Kick Boxing has further developed to include some of the striking techniques used in boxing. Almost all the techniques used MTB rotation around the body when kicking or punching. The constantrotation of the body's core, emphasis in training should be on developing core muscle (abdominal muscle) strength.
Striking techniques have evolved in Muay Thai from the use of simple crosses and long circular blows to techniques that incorporate more traditional forms of boxing strikes. Jabs, crosses, upper cuts, and hooks are not part of the Muay Thai repertoire. The elbow can be used as an effective striking weapon in many ways. One of the most common ways to use the elbow is to strike the opponent on the eyebrow, where the skin is close to the bone. The skin can split open, causing your opponent to bleed. The blood flow can impair your opponent's vision and it can also cause your opponent to lose focus and to think about being hurt, or the potential of being hurt more. Single elbow moves are common, but a follow up elbow can be used as well. Elbows are very effective means of blocking strikes by an opponent.
There are two favorite kicks in Muay Thai, the Teh and the teep. The teep is a foot jab. The Teh is an angle kick, a rotational move using the whole body. This kick gets its power from the rotation of the body and often a counter rotation of the arms and upper body is used to increase the impact of the kick. Knees and feet are also used in Muay Thai. Learning Muay Thai and developing core muscle strength are essential parts of mixed martial arts training. Learn these techniques safely from a qualified mixed martial arts instructor in a qualified training school.
